Home Solar Batteries
Battery storage for a home solar system: 48V LiFePO4 batteries for hybrid and off-grid inverters, and high-voltage stacks for Growatt storage inverters. Every battery here is lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), the chemistry used for home storage because it is thermally stable and lasts thousands of cycles. All ship from our Las Vegas warehouse.

48V or high-voltage?
- 48V (low voltage) batteries pair with most hybrid and off-grid inverters, including the Growatt SPH. They are the flexible choice for off-grid homes and for adding storage to a 48V system. The GSL 14.34kWh gives the most storage per dollar in our range, about $209 per kWh.
- High-voltage batteries such as the Growatt APX pair with the Growatt MIN XH storage inverters used in grid-tied homes. They are UL 9540 certified, the listing inspectors and utilities look for on grid-tied storage.
How much battery do you need?
- List what you need through an outage or overnight: fridge, furnace fan, well pump, lights, internet. Typical essentials use 8–10 kWh a day.
- Multiply by the hours you want to cover and divide by 24.
- Divide by usable capacity. LiFePO4 batteries can use 90–95% of their rating.
Example: 9 kWh/day of essentials for 24 hours ÷ 0.95 ≈ 9.5 kWh, so one GSL 14.34kWh covers a full day with room to spare. With solar panels recharging it each day, it can carry essentials through a multi-day outage. Send us your loads and we'll size it for free.
Home battery FAQs
What is the best battery for a home solar system?
It depends on your inverter. For 48V hybrid and off-grid inverters, a 48V LiFePO4 battery like the GSL 14.34kWh gives the most capacity per dollar. For Growatt MIN XH grid-tied storage, use the Growatt APX high-voltage battery the inverter is designed for.
How long will a home battery last?
The GSL 14.34kWh is rated for 8,500+ cycles at 95% depth of discharge and carries a 15-year warranty. Check each listing for its own cycle rating and warranty.
Can I install a battery outdoors?
The GSL 14.34kWh is IP65 rated and floor-mounted on its own stand, so it suits garages, barns, carports and sheltered exterior walls. Many other batteries are indoor-only; check each listing.
Can I add more batteries later?
Yes. The GSL stacks up to 16 units, the Growatt ALP is modular, and an APX stack grows to 30 kWh on one power module. Adding identical units later is the simplest way to expand.
Do I need a new inverter to add a battery?
Only if your current inverter cannot charge a battery. A standard grid-tie inverter cannot; a hybrid or storage inverter can. Tell us your inverter model and we'll confirm compatibility.
