Off-Grid Solar Systems & Kits
Complete off-grid solar systems from 2 kW to 24 kW, each with solar panels, an inverter-charger and LiFePO4 battery storage matched as one package. Pick a system sized for a weekend RV, a cabin, or a whole off-grid home, and run your power with no utility connection at all.

An off-grid solar system makes power from the panels, stores it in the battery bank, and the inverter turns it into household AC power, day and night. Every system here ships with a parts list on the listing, so you know exactly what is in the box. Kits labelled "panel kit" include the inverter and panels only, so you can add a battery bank you already own.

How to size an off-grid solar system
- Add up your daily use in kWh. For each appliance, multiply its watts by the hours it runs per day, then add them up and divide by 1,000. A cabin with lights, a fridge and a laptop often uses 3 to 6 kWh a day; a full-size home uses 20 to 30 kWh.
- Size the solar array. Divide your daily kWh by your area's peak sun hours, then by 0.75 for real-world losses. Example: 6 kWh ÷ 4 sun hours ÷ 0.75 = a 2 kW array.
- Size the battery. Multiply daily kWh by the days you want to ride out without sun, usually 1 to 2. LiFePO4 batteries can use about 90% of their rated capacity.
- Size the inverter. Add the watts of everything that runs at the same time, then check that the inverter's surge rating covers motors such as well pumps and fridges starting up.
- Pick the voltage. 12 V suits small RV systems, 24 V suits cabins, and 48 V suits homes. Higher voltage means thinner wires and lower losses at higher power.
- Plan a backup charge source. Most systems here accept a generator, which covers long cloudy stretches in winter.
Off-grid, grid-tie or hybrid?
| System type | Battery | Works in a power outage | Needs a utility connection | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Off-grid | Yes | Yes | No | Cabins, RVs and homes beyond the power lines |
| Grid-tie | No | No, shuts off by design | Yes | Cutting the bill where the grid is reliable |
| Hybrid | Yes | Yes | Yes | Grid-connected homes that want backup |

Off-grid solar system FAQs
What is an off-grid solar system?
It is a solar power system that runs with no connection to the utility grid. Panels charge a battery bank during the day, and an inverter turns the stored power into standard household AC, so you have electricity around the clock.
How much does a complete off-grid solar system cost?
Our complete systems with batteries range from about $2,000 for a 2,000 W RV system to about $22,000 for a 24 kW whole-home system with 57 kWh of storage. Inverter-and-panel kits without a battery start lower, at about $1,600.
What size off-grid solar system do I need for a house?
Most full-size homes use 20 to 30 kWh a day, which points to a 12 kW system with 9 to 11 kW of panels. A small home or cottage using 10 to 15 kWh a day is usually well served by a 6 kW system. Send us your appliance list and we will size it for free.
Do your off-grid solar kits include batteries?
The complete systems include LiFePO4 battery storage, from 2.56 kWh up to 57.36 kWh. Listings named "panel kit" or "DIY kit" include the inverter and panels only, for buyers who already own a battery bank.
Can I connect a generator to an off-grid solar system?
Yes. The 3.5 kW, 6 kW, 12 kW and 24 kW systems accept generator input, so a generator can recharge the batteries during long cloudy stretches.
Is mounting and installation included?
Racking is not included, because it depends on your roof or ground mount; we can quote it with the system. Permits and labour are not included. Check your local code, and use our installer finder if you want professional installation.
