How to choose solar panels
- Roof or ground? 440–455 W panels are about the size most residential roofs and installers are set up for. 575–720 W panels are larger and heavier and suit ground mounts and commercial roofs.
- Bifacial or not? Bifacial panels also collect light reflected onto the back, which adds the most output on ground mounts over light-colored ground or snow.
- Hail? In hail-prone areas, the Philadelphia panels are built for improved hail resistance.
- Compare price per watt, not price per panel. It's in every listing title.
- Match your inverter: check the panel's voltage and current against your inverter or microinverter inputs, or ask us.
Solar panel FAQs
How many solar panels do I need for my house?
Divide your yearly kWh use by your area's yearly production per kW (about 1,200–1,700 kWh per kW in most of the US) to get system size, then divide by the panel wattage. A home using 10,000 kWh a year in a 1,400 kWh/kW area needs about a 7 kW system: sixteen 445 W panels.
What does N-type TOPCon mean?
N-type TOPCon is a newer cell design that typically degrades more slowly and handles heat better than older P-type cells. Most of our current panels use N-type cells.
Do you sell solar panels by the pallet?
Yes. Pallets of 33–36 panels are priced lower per watt than single panels and ship freight from Las Vegas. See solar panel pallets.
Can I pick up solar panels locally?
Yes, local pickup is available from our Las Vegas warehouse. Contact us to arrange a time.
